FAQ Chalk colours
VIA chalk paint uses an oil-resin coagulation as its binder. It is 100% preservative-free and can also be referred to as natural resin chalk paint or mineral-filled emulsion paint. Our chalk paint is solvent-free, plasticizer-free, and does not contain any biocides. Additionally, it does not emit fumes. An emulsion is a coagulation of oils and resins under pressure at 200°C (VIA paint uses tree resins).
The high pigmentation provides excellent color depth and intensity. The paint adheres well to the brush or roller. When working with it, it's important to always have enough paint on the roller or brush, and for dark shades, it's recommended to apply two coats for sufficient coverage and even pigment distribution. VIA chalk paint has excellent coverage and is suitable for all surfaces, both walls and furniture. The substrate should always be clean and free of grease.

The paint can be used on interior plaster (including clay plaster), plaster, paper wallpaper and matt old dispersion-based paints.
VIA chalk paint does not need to be mixed with water. It can be processed as it is delivered. You should just stir it well once.
Emulsion paint consists of plastic binders, making it suitable for various types of surfaces. Emulsion paint does not pose health issues and is environmentally friendly.
Silicate paint belongs to mineral interior paints and is well-suited for allergy sufferers since it repels bacteria and dirt. Additionally, it is water vapor-permeable and alkaline, meaning that mold has a difficult time forming on it. However, the application of silicate paint can be slightly more complex compared to emulsion or chalk paint.
Chalk paint combines characteristics of both types: it is water-based, adheres to many surfaces, and is environmentally friendly due to its natural chalk pigments. Furthermore, it promotes ventilation and helps regulate the indoor climate.
VIA chalk paint is suitable for almost all materials. Furniture can be painted very well with chalk paint. It is important to ensure that the surface is always free of grease and dirt.
