Many entrance areas of historic Wilhelminian-style buildings are fitted with artistic terrazzo floors, which impress with their vibrant colours and loving details. The coloured surfaces are elegantly separated from each other by narrow mosaic bands. These usually consist of alternating white and black marble tiles in a square shape, which are first placed precisely on the substrate. Elaborately designed mosaic motifs, which are often found in the corners or in the centre of the floors, are particularly impressive and give every room an individual touch.

Prefabricated mosaic strips for classic terrazzo borders
VIA offers the typical terrazzo borders as a practical standard solution: Black and white marble tiles are carefully laid in rows in the workshop and fixed to 30 cm long strips with adhesive tape. These prefabricated mosaic strips can then be pressed into freshly applied tile adhesive on the screed directly on site. Once the adhesive has hardened, the adhesive tape is simply removed - quickly, cleanly and true to the original.

Perfect integration into the terrazzo floor
After inserting the mosaic strips, the terrazzo is brought up to the stones on both sides. During the subsequent sanding process, the mosaic tiles are worked seamlessly, creating a classic, flush-fitting mosaic strip in the terrazzo. Thanks to this sophisticated approach, the traditional appearance can be realised in a comparatively simple way.

Customised design with a variety of edge solutions
A single-row taxi border was used in this project - simple, elegant and classic. Other border designs and more elaborate mosaic patterns can also be realised. On request, VIA can produce these either pre-assembled on mesh or for installation directly on site - entirely according to the requirements of your project.
