VIA Terrazzo processing with edge
VIA terrazzo mixtures can be combined with each other. This video shows how two different mixes are processed in one project and how they are separated from each other with an aluminium rail.

Processing - How the VIA Terrazzo works
Install today - sand tomorrow
VIA Terrazzo is delivered to the construction site in a practical 25kg bucket. It is mixed with water on site and processed into a levelling compound. This compound contains sand, lime and aggregate, the grain size of which determines the height of the future floor when the levelling compound is applied.
Important: 3-4 mm more material should be added so that the intended final dimension is achieved after the sanding process.
Requirements for the substrate
- Sufficient dryness, strength, load-bearing capacity and dimensional stability
- Free of adhesion-reducing layers such as dust, dirt, oil, grease and loose particles.
- Separating layers, sintered layers and similar must be removed by suitable mechanical means, e.g. grinding, brushing, blasting or milling.
- It should fulfil the requirements of DIN 18202, Tolerances in building construction.
- The requirements of DIN 18157 apply
- Cement screeds must be at least 28 days old, correspond to strength class F4 and have a residual moisture content of ≤ 1.8 CM-%, calcium sulphate-bound screeds of ≤ 0.5 CM-%, with underfloor heating < 0.3 CM-%.
- Calcium sulphate screeds must always be prepared in accordance with the BEB information sheet "Notes on assessing and preparing the surface of anhydrite screeds".

... rough sanding
VIA Terrazzo is sanded dry. The rapid setting with the VIA binder means that the flooring can be sanded after just one day of drying (at least 24 hours). The first coarse sanding involves sanding the grain size. Sanding is carried out in uniform movements until the machine runs smoothly.

... putty
A visual inspection reveals isolated cavities, so-called blowholes. These are filled with VIA pore filler - mixed with the sanding dust from the coarse sanding - and a joint board.

... fine sanding
In the first fine sanding, the levelling compound residues are sanded off until the floor is clean. For a higher gloss level, a final fine sanding can be carried out. Depending on the degree of sanding, VIA Terrazzo achieves a slip classification of R9 to max. R 11.
Further information on the individual sanding steps can be found in the sanding guide.

... impregnate
Finally, the dry and clean terrazzo floor is sealed with VIA mineral impregnation. This is applied crosswise with a floor wiper.

The VIA bucket deposit system
Simply return it
The empty VIA buckets with handles have other uses - to keep the construction site tidy, as containers for other materials or tools. Depending on how many buckets you have, not all of them can be reused.
If you have 50 or more buckets, we will be happy to take them back and recycle them. We charge a deposit of €0.50 per empty bucket. Contact us directly for details and processing.
