How the seamless VIA Terrazzo works
VIA Terrazzo is delivered to site in a convenient 25kg bucket. On site it is mixed with water and processed into a flowable levelling compound. This mixture contains sand, lime and stone grains, the size of which determines the height of the final floor when the levelling compound is applied.
It is important to allow an extra 3-4mm of material lift to achieve the desired final dimension after the sanding process.
Requirements for the substrate
- Adequately dry, strong, load bearing and dimensionally stable.
- Free from adhesion inhibiting layers such as dust, dirt, oil, grease and loose particles.
- Separating layers, sintered layers and the like must be removed by suitable mechanical means, e.g. grinding, brushing, blasting or milling.
- It should meet the requirements of DIN 18202, Tolerances in building construction.
- The requirements of DIN 18157 apply
- Cement screeds must be at least 28 days old, comply with strength class F4 and have a residual moisture ≤ 1.8 CM-%, calcium sulphate screeds ≤ 0.5 CM-%, with underfloor heating < 0.3 CM-%.
- Calcium sulphate screeds must always be prepared in accordance with the BEB leaflet "Notes on the assessment and preparation of the surface of anhydrite screeds".
Sanding and levelling
Once the terrazzo has been laid without joints, to a thickness of approximately 1.3 cm, allow the floor to dry for approximately 24 hours.
Dry sanding can begin. The resulting voids and pores are filled with VIA Levelling Compound and sanded free.
Further sanding can be done to achieve the desired gloss.

The empty VIA buckets with handles can be used for other purposes - to keep the site tidy, or as containers for other materials or tools. Depending on how many buckets you have, not all of them can be reused.
If you have more than 50 buckets, we will be happy to take them back and recycle/reuse them. We charge a deposit of €0.50 per empty bucket. Please contact us directly for details and processing.
